Windows Live Writer.

This blog is written using windows Live Writer. I was wondering how does it connect to the word press. I had to give http://vidyapith.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php at the end to connect to this blog. It picked the background them of the blog. Divided the theme into the title section (header) and body section. Overall its like composing the blog from a word document directly with the blog theme at the background. There are a lot of options to insert Hyperlink, picture, photo album, table, maps, tags, video etc. Also we can add a plugin available at http://plugins.live.com/writer/browse?orderby=featured&page=1

I heard windows live writer mainly can be installed in Windows7 Operating system. But I did install windows live writer for Windows XP.

Open an existing blog for editing.

Click the “Open” button to open the posts for editing available in the blog, for eg., Choose the name of the blog “vidyapith” in the left panel and will display all the posts published so far. Choose anyone of the posts and it will open a word like interface with the background theme of the blog for editing.

Save Draft

After opening the posts for editing, add more content or edit the content in it. After a while if you feel still the post is not ready for published then save the posts as draft by clicking on the “Save draft”. There are three options available in Save Draft. 1. “Save Local Draft” 2. “Post Draft to a blog” 3. “Post Draft and edit online”

Save Local Draft : Will save the draft locally (I assume it must be in the desktop)

Post Draft to a blog : It will save the draft in the blog providers space in this case. vidyapith.wordpress.com. Whenever you open the posts online for editing, you can find it in the drafts section.

Posts Draft and edit online : Will save the draft online within the wordpress or any other blog provider account supported by Live writer and open the draft for editing online. It is similar to the way that you had composed earlier through the wordpress.

University of Madras – PRO Number is never reachable

Those who are aspiring to study in university of madras, listen, this university of madras PRO number is never reachable. I am not sure about the exact reason but the number is simply not reachable. Sometimes it rings, sometimes it is engaged. It feels that PRO is not seriously concerned about the students or those who enquire about the university.

It is one among the top universities in India but the response from the university staff is really really pathetic..I have been to the university for some purpose a few years back and for each and everything..I had stand in queue, enquire and they will not properly respond if you ask them the second time for some clarification. They will not treat the aspiring students well and those who want to buy the application or any forms for that matter, has to undergo a frustrating comments from the university staff…When everything in India is changing, the age old process of still followed in university of madras. Before they give education to others..University staffs has to be given proper training in lot of areas.

Govenment has sold off to the Builder Lobby !!

The Govenment is not allowing the markets to run its course. It has sold off completely to the builder lobby!! What are the builders doing to correct prices ? Sadly, nothing !! They want the government to provide subsidised housing loans to boost their sales !! All builders had raised their prices by upto 500 % over the last 3-4 years. Now when it is time to correct prices, they are doing nothing . The govenment should not offer bailout packages but should let some of the builders go bust and let properties be available to the buyer at distress prices. Unfortunately, elections are near and politicians need funds to contest them. So they have resorted to taking money from the builder lobby and providing them bailout packages at the cost of the poor common man. This is India !!

Google Chrome – The excellent browser – but with minor problems

It is a very good experience to use google chrome browser generally, there are
1. not much of tools on top, so the clear picture of the whole page is visible during the fist glance.
2. It renders the pages good, some of the pages which breaks in IE 7 & IE 6 is rendered properly.

I faced a problem with upload functionality.. might be a page issue. But the same functionality is working fine in IE 7.0 and the upload buttons are aligned to the left whereas generally it will aligned to the right.

Why Sachin is important to us?

Those of you who were born during between 1975 to 1990 will know the importance of Sachin.

When we were kid .. would have heard lot of cricket, world cup victory, India Vs Pakistan matches. Because those days sports is nothing but cricket..even today there’s isn’t much difference. When we started going to school, there was a person – little master he called, was batting brilliantly among the top cricketers, he was just 16,17,18.. but was simply competing with big guys. Sometimes, the so called big guns failed to play the matches but here little master  delivered. As a growing kid this was really inspiring to achieve in a bigger stage.

Cricket is a team game. But in India, it was a one man show for a very long time but this little master stood there and delivered before ganguly and dravid came into mainstream cricket. Everytime he comes to bat, there was something special that was attracting, everytime he lifts his bat for half century …our heart beat will raise … our enthusiasm will raise.. we feel proud as though we did something to the nation, proud of being an Indian and all other positive feelings. It turned down even a bad day at school and college into a good one. Everytime he lifts his bat for century..the following day will be more enjoyous and it is a great feeling. Who in this world has given such a great feeling to all Indians at the same time.. It is none other than Sachin the master blaster. His presence in matches is more important than anything else. Longer he stays in the crease the more happy we are.

Now we are in 2008..2009 and even after 15 plus years still we are seeing sachin centuries live and still it arouses the same Inspiration.  We have grown taller, fatter and come across so many hurdles and still when we see Sachin’s hundred or fifty, we forget everything atleast at that moment and gives us a refreshes us like CTRL + F5. So, sachin is important for our enjoyous feeling with which we have grown and still growing.

Vijay Mallya, the liquor baron has decided to grab Kevin Pietersen. Only one franchisee club who is not improving the team but improving the team’s performance but the brand’s performance is none other vijay mallya. His name of “Royal Challengers” is clearly pushing his brand forward. All the other teams in IPL do not have clear brand focus, though they win matches for their teams but do not have focus on promoting the brand. For example, Calcutta had Nokia and other sports apparel brand, the winners of the IPL last season did not promote any brand at all. They still promoted Royal Challengers in Tshirt. So the clear winner of last year IPL was “Royal Challengers”, “Kingfisher” and Vijay Mallya

Use Vote 49-0

If you feel there are corrupt politicians standing for the next elections and you do not want to vote for them. Spread the news.

Do you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section “49-O” that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn’t want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called “49-O”.
Why should you go and say “I VOTE NOBODY”… because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received “49-O” votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them.
This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system… it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public….
Please spread this news to as many as you know… Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India… show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting… so don’t miss your chance.
So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on…
